QMJHL and Telus announce webcasting deal
by hockeywebcasts.com staff
The long wait is over.
It's been rumoured for several months that the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has been putting the pieces together with communications giant Telus, that would see the latter streaming live video of QMJHL games via its website. Today, finally, the hype has come to fruition as they have announced a five-year agreement that will allow QMJHL fans to watch games live at
telus.com/qmjhl starting with the 2007 QMJHL Championship final series beginning Friday, May 4. All 7 games of the QMJHL Final between the Val D'Or Foreurs and Lewiston Maineiacs will be available to watch free of charge.
The deal will also see Telus stream 630 live games during the 2007-2008 season, including full playoff coverage. "TELUS and the QMJHL have been working together for the last four years. It seemed only natural for us to combine our resources for the benefit of our Quebec fans, and for our fans all over the world," said Gilles Courteau, Commissioner of the QMJHL. "Fans, friends and family will now be able to keep track of their favourite teams, whether they are playing at home or away."
